An Unlicensed Contractor In New York City Cannot Enforce A Home Improvement Contract. Just Wanted You To Know That

A New York City couple hired a contractor to renovate their apartment, and the two parties executed a contract to detail the terms of the exchange.

The contractor subsequently performed the renovation work, but a dispute nonetheless arose (over the quality of the construction or the bill the couple owed to the contractor, presumably). As a result of the dispute, the couple did not pay the contractor what the contractor claimed he was owed, pursuant to the executed contract.

When the two parties could not resolve the dispute, the contractor filed a lawsuit against the couple to enforce the executed home improvement contract, and...it did not go well for the contractor.
